Course Overview
This 8-hour course, instructed by an experienced Air Operations Sergeant and K-9 handler, provides fleeing-suspect behavior, perimeter containment, UAS and air operations, and apprehension tactics.
Designed for patrol officers, field supervisors, K-9 handlers, SWAT personnel, air crews, UAS operators, and tactical trainers, this course examines why suspects flee, how they make decisions while attempting to evade law enforcement, and the tactics officers can use to anticipate their movements, restrict their options, and safely take them into custody.
Participants will explore the critical first minutes following a suspect's flight, including establishing effective containment, identifying likely escape routes and hiding locations, coordinating responding resources, and determining when to transition from immediate pursuit to a deliberate search and containment operation.
